Instructor: Laura Lee Gulledge
VMFA Workshop
Date: Friday, June 4, 2021
Time: 1-4pm
Workshop Fee: $40

Like comics? Many cartoonists got their start by making them in MINI form! In this virtual workshop Laura Lee walks students through the visual-storytelling basics of how she makes her graphic novels. She then demonstrates the process through designing a character, building a world, writing a short story, and thumbnailing out the panel layouts collaboratively with students as she draws it all out live on camera. #artnerlove

Students will then apply these new ideas to make their own mini comic book featuring an original character! Laura Lee will assist students with their character designs, writing out their stories, and demonstrate how to fold the actual mini comic books using a single sheet of paper. then students can finish drawing out their comic books on their own at home.

Audience: Young Adults (10–16)
