Registration- Policies and Procedures

 

Three ways to Register

In Person:  Main Facility at 100 North Main Street during normal operating hours  (Monday-Friday 9am-5pm year round; and  Saturdays  April 1 through December 24 from 10am-2pm)

Registration

Class registrations are taken on a first-come, first serve basis.  To secure your spot in a class at the time of registration full payment is required for any class costing $20 or less, and a deposit of 50% of the total tuition charge is required for all other classes.  The balance of all tuition is due one week prior to the first day of class.  Waiting lists will be created for all filled classes and students will be placed on lists in order of receipt of their completed registration forms and related deposits/payments.

 

Cancellation/Refund

Chestnut Creek School of the Arts will conduct classes for which an adequate number of students are registered.

Classes cancelled by the School:  If the School must cancel a class, students who registered for such a class will be given the opportunity to transfer their payments to another course.  A full refund of payments for classes cancelled by the School will be given to students who do not wish to transfer payments.

Student Withdrawals:  Students have until the date two weeks prior to any class to withdraw and receive a full refund of their deposit.  Deposits are non-refundable after that date. Students withdrawing after a class has begun will not receive a refund.

 

Class Hours

As specified for each individual class.

 

Parking

Galax City Street parking is allowed for four hours; Grayson Stage parking is good for two hours.  Students who will be in class for longer periods of time are encouraged to park in conveniently located public lots.  The closest one to the school is behind Flossies on the corner of Jefferson and OldTown Streets.

 

Meals

During courses that meet over the lunch hour, students are given a coupon providing  a 10% discount for many of the downtown restaurants, including a map of options.

 

Lodging

Nearby housing options include bed & breakfasts and inns, hotels and camping, many of whom offer discounts to students.  Please refer to visitgalax.com or call Galax Tourism Office (276)238-8130 for more information and assistance.

 

Cost of Materials

Materials are class-specific.  In some cases there is a list of materials that students should bring with them to class.  In other cases, there is a material fee payable to instructor upon arrival for materials the instructors provide.  The list of what that fee covers will be provided to the student upon registration.  Only in the case of Pottery classes do students pay CCSA a material fee. 

 

Policies:

Firearms:  No firearms allowed in facility.
Studio Safety:
  All participants must abide by safety guidelines posted as prescribed by our instructors. 

Drugs and Alcohol:  Alcohol is not permitted in studios or public areas.  The use of illegal drugs is prohibited.

Smoking:  There are no indoor smoke facilities on our campus.

Personal Property:  Chestnut Creek School of the Arts is not responsible for the security of property belonging to students, instructors or staff.

Pets:  Students are not permitted to have pets with them on campus except for service animals for people with disabilities.

Youth:  For classes other that those youth-specific, students must be at least 18 years of age unless accompanied by an adult and approved by the individual instructor and management.  Contact the School for more information.  Anyone under 18 unless otherwise specified must be accompanied by an adult.  Failure to comply with these policies may result in removal from the class without refund.

 

Accessibility:  Chestnut Creek School of the Arts meets the requirements of the Americans with Disabilities Act.  Please be advised that when classes are held at Matthews Living History Farm Museum the site is located on uneven and hilly terrain.  However, ADA compliant restroom facilities are provided.  If special accommodations are required please contact the School personnel and allow at least two weeks to coordinate appropriate accommodations.
